Admissions

Process

Applying to the ACE program has two main steps: Creating an application online via UCI, and applying to ACE directly.

Online Form

UC Irvine has its own application process all candidates for graduate programs must complete. To complete this portion of the application process, please use the online form at:

http://www.rgs.uci.edu/grad/prospective/app_online.htm

A completed online application will include an application fee payment of $60 (for U.S. Citizens and lawful U.S. Permanent Residents) or $80 (for all other applicants); Standardized test scores if applicable GRE, TOEFL (or IELTS); three letters of recommendation; and two official transcripts (copies of the official record of all courses taken at whatever institution(s) you have studied at and received your degree from).

Statement of Purpose, Resume, and Portfolio

In addition to completing the online form, an application to ACE requires a statement of purpose, a resume, and a portfolio, sent directly to the administrator of ACE. The statement of purpose should address the following: why you feel ACE is the program for you; why you feel qualified to join ACE; what you would hope to achieve while in the program; and what your longer term career goals are. This letter should be 300-500 words.

The resume should include a comprehensive listing of your educational and professional history. The portfolio should include examples of work demonstrating an effort to combine computation, engineering and the arts in a significant way. Portfolios may be submitted via CD/DVD, or website.
